I.🍂 Born the second of three sons to a family of devout disciples of Nophica, Wato was raised a homesteader and farmer alongside his elder brother Mihwa'a, nicknamed Mi'a, and his younger brother Mihwa'li, nicknamed Wali. As the brothers grew, however, Mi'a would take on the primary role of overseeing the lifeblood of the Nahvare clan, managing cycles of growth and distribution of prepared grains. Feeling as though his place in the Nahvare clan could be better served with blood and mettle, Wato diverged sharply from his family's traditional roles, and dedicated himself to becoming a Sentinel—an elite sect of sons of Nahvare sworn to the service of the clan by oaths of fealty and impeccable martial prowess.Wielding faith as both shield and anchor, Wato vowed to honor Nophica not through prayer but through patience, likening his ascension to Sentinelhood to the growth and harvest of wheat. Against the expectations of his family, he undertook an immensely demanding Sentinel Proving under the tutelage of a mentor known for his grueling, difficult, and abnormally long training regime. His chosen weapon—a spectral scythe which he has aptly named Nophica's Tidings—is an emblem of both his heritage and his departure from it, a tool of the fields turned into a guardian's blade. Not only did he pass his Proving, but he excelled, carving a name for himself among the Sentinels and serving many years as a mentor to other would-be Sentinels. Led by example and like his mentor before him, Wato's regimens for Sentinel training became infamous for being painful, arduous trials of patience, cunning, and unyielding will.

II.Wato would not remain the only of Mihwa's sons interested in Sentinelhood, however: her youngest and final son, Wali, also diverged from the path of homesteaders and dedicated himself to training to become a Sentinel to the Nahvare clan. In deep admiration for his elder brother, Wali insisted to be trained by Wato himself, and for his Proving to be overseen by him. After the success of Wato's proving, all eyes were on them, teeming in expectation for yet another of Mihwa's sons to ascend into greatness. Tragically, a single moment of miscalculation during Wali's Proving led to his sudden, unexpected death under Wato's watch—an event that would forever stain Wato's reputation both within his family and his clan, as the man still refuses to explain what happened to this day. From that day, Wato became a shade of what he once was. While his loyalty to his clan and his faith in Nophica remained steadfast, the regret of Wali's failed Proving never left him, and the warm undercurrent of his compassion cooled and hardened. He maintained a mentorship status if only for his rigid conviction—and as a result, his lessons became that much more demanding, more difficult: his pupils emerging from the Provings almost as hardened as Wato himself. Now middle-aged and wisened—with the regrets of over a decade past—Wato stands a towering presence amongst the Sentinels, but staunchly refuses to pursue any sort of leadership role. To aspiring Sentinels, he is a paragon of discipline and a brutal mentor with the edge of his sorrow a savage blade in their lessons. To his family, he is a distant pillar, ever reliable but ever unreachable. He seldom speaks of the past, and has elected retirement from mentoring young Sentinels to pursue companionship with Mihn'to—a fellow Nahvare and Witch—acting as an auxiliary Sentinel at his side as a protector and guide.🍂
